Thanks you for participating in the thread "Letters + Places"...hope your enjoying it ^_^

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421I doubt that Kagome is just a fling. Inuyasha obviously loves Kagome. Inuyasha and Kikyo didn't trust each other. If they did, then would they have thought that they had betrayed one another? Love has to be based on trust and if you can't trust another person, how can you possibly like them or even love them? Kagome and Inuyasha both trust each other. They both are there for each other, Kagome to help comfort him and Inuyasha to rescue her. Their relationship extends far beyond just a fling or a mild attraction. Inuyasha doesn't demonstrate the same sort of attention with other females and only Kagome. He even trusted her first and feels more comfortable with her in his human form. Also, Kikyo didn't truly love Inuyasha because she wanted him to become human. That was simply to eliminate her duty of protecting the jewel. She was asking him to deny his demon blood, which is in essence telling him to deny any connections with his own father, whom he does admire. If you truly love someone, you shouldn't demand that they change to benefit yourself. Therefore, I think that Inuyasha loves Kagome more because he can finally see the good qualities in himself and appreciate both his mother and father.

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421Also, another point I want to make. It is true that Inuyasha will always remember Kikyo. I mean it's like a first crush. You tend to remember things that you do for the first time...like riding your bike, first kisses, those kinds of things. Those things are special because it's the first time you experience something. Kikyo happens to be the first person that Inuyasha may have cared for outside of his family, but as I've said before, their feelings do not run as close nor as strong as between Inuyasha and Kagome, who trust each other and are willing to accept each other.

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421I don't necessarily agree that they are the same person. They may have the same soul, according to the laws of reincarnation, but they have been exposed to different environments and have had different experiences. These factors would contribute to them being different people. Also, although Inuyasha may have chosen Kikyou in earlier episodes, as it drew closer to the end of the series thus far, Inuyasha demonstrates that he actually cares more for the well-being of Kagome. They both depend on each other and Inuyasha begins to realize how sad he would be if Kagome was gone. There was an episode where Inuyasha cried for the first time, and it was over Kagome's "death". Sorry if this is a spoiler for anyone, but Inuyasha didn't even cry around Kikyou. When he found out that she died, he didn't cry, and even when he realized that he had lost Kikyou because of Naraku, he only felt anger, but not necessarily sadness. Therefore, I would still conclude that Kagome has a stronger impact on Inuyasha's feelings and also taught him to appreciate himself for who he is, instead of trying to embrace either his human side or his demon side only.

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421I agree, Kagome has changed Inuyasha gradually and he has finally allowed himself to make friends and become more sociable. Kikyo remained lonely and it influenced Inuyasha to be so too. But with Kagome, she teaches him how to trust and this allowed him to have friends like Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara.

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421Hey! Thanks for putting me on your list and signing my guestbook! I'm glad that my comments made sense to you and helped you. Hope to see you around...and also, you have a very cute webpage!

Quote by ChibiKenshin1421(...) lot of people say that Kikyo died for Inuyasha, but I really don't think so. She went to give him the jewel to use in order to free herself from her duty of protecting the jewel. Then Naraku kills her. No where in her action does it indicate that she died for Inuyasha. Her intent was already out of her own need to be free not necessarily to free Inuyasha. It was more of a double deal, she would be free from protecting the jewel and Inuyasha would fit into society. But that does not mean that she said that she'd give up her life for him. She still wanted him to change and her death did not signify much other than to be a symbol of bitterness for Inuyasha in the story later. She didn't imply that her death would allow Inuyasha to live or say that she would sacrifice her life to make his better.
